Chapter 1 continued.

Positive and negative. Using a hole punch and black sugar paper, I have made a column on a white background with the black dots from the hole punch and also with the punched black paper a column of white punched through dots.

The bottom half of page three shows a tonal column made from a ripped up photocopied page on butterflies.

Page four shows a mixed media column of pencil crayon, oil pastel, chalk, tissue paper and white paper, followed by a second mixed media column of pencil, charcoal, watercolour pencil, ink on a roller, black chiffon, black lace and black sugar paper.

The bottom of page four is a white and black watercolour pencil scribble column.

Page five is oil pastel, the partial column you see above the oil pastel is a cut through window to the hole punched columns on page three.

Page six is fabric strips, off white chiffon, white bias binding, white string mesh, white patterned fabric, black and white patterned fabric, black lace and black velvet. Above this column you can see part of one of the mixed media columns from page four which you last saw through a cut out window of black sugar paper.
